Beaver Island Lake Ecology Workshop

FreeLearn about the ecology and conservation of Beaver Island’s lakes during this hands-on program. The program will focus on three topics:
- Shoreline habitat
- Learn about the value of healthy shorelines and how to protect them.
- Invasive species
- Learn to identify aquatic invasive species and how to prevent their introduction.
- Volunteer monitoring
- Learn about Michigan’s volunteer lake monitoring program and how to get involved.
Presented by Erick Elgin and Dr. Jo Latimore of Michigan State University Extension.
This workshop is free of charge and lunch will be provided. Those interested can meet after the workshop at Barneys Lake at 3:30 p.m. to explore the lake shoreline and vegetation on foot or by canoe or kayak.
Registration closes at 11:59 p.m. on July 7, 2022.
