Giving Tuesday 12/1/20
This year, on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, NALMS is proud to once again be participating in #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving.
Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. Since its founding in 2012, #GivingTuesday has inspired giving around the world, resulting in greater donations, volunteer hours, and activities that bring about real change in communities.
Whether you choose to give to our general fund – the Lake Giver’s Club – or a more targeted effort – the Eberhardt Memorial Student Fund, the G. Dennis Cooke Symposium Fund, or the Secchi Dip-In citizen science program, you are helping us achieve our mission of bringing people together to tackle important issues facing lakes, reservoirs, and other freshwater resources.
As 2020 marks our 40th anniversary, we will be closing out our “Give $40 for NALMS 40th” campaign that we kicked off at our 2019 symposium in Burlington, Vermont. Haven’t participated yet? You still have time to give! Let’s see how low that Secchi disk will go!
If you are unable to support NALMS with a monetary donation, you can help in other important ways:
- Keep your membership up-to-date or join the Society – learn more about membership!
- Volunteer on one of our committees – find more info here!
- Do some of your online holiday shopping on AmazonSmile (where a small percentage of your purchase price is donated to NALMS)
- Follow us on social media and share our stories and initiatives
To our members and supporters who have donated to NALMS’ initiatives already this year, whether through a monetary donation or by volunteering time (or for many of you, both!), THANK YOU so much! We truly appreciate your support of NALMS and our important mission.
