Description
In this issue of LakeLine we feature Northwestern lakes. The geography, geology, and climate of the Northwest is more diverse that any other geographic region in the U.S. This diversity has profound effects on lakes. Vertically, the region varies from sea level to high-altitude alpine areas. The only rain forest in the U.S. occurs here as do dry deserts that receive less than ten inches of rain annually. Parts of the Northwest are active volcanically and this affects lake genesis and characteristics.
